    Father's PRESENT: Golf R32 2-door OR 4-door?

    Hey Guys,

I'm new to this forum but since you guys are the pro's I need all your opinions!

I'm getting my father a present these next few weeks. He got rid of the E46 M3 SMG cause lets face it that SMG is worthless. He drives his work van but I say no more.

He thinks Im looking for a R32 for me but its really for him and yes im modding it before i give it.

We're both in LOVE with the R32, the big question what's your opinion guys 2-door or 4-door?

What are great starter mods as well?

What a nice son you are.

2 door. See my sig for entry level mods, but there are plenty of guys (and at least 1 girl) who have done way more!

Wow, what an awesome thing to do. Seems "Lucky" runs in the family

Good luck with your search and plans Louis. Would love to see this play out.

Ps: my son, (the broke musician haha) tells me all that he wants to do for me when he 'makes it' big - and that's just so cool in itself! lol

@Brad - appreciate it, yeah hopefully I can get a few more opinions coming through. But im searching your mod list on google and great mods!
+1 with you on the 2 door.

@Golda / G - What a coincidence actually I was that broke musician a few years back! was about to get signed but I became a Senior Wealth Adviser & Strategist at Orb Global Investments. Its more rewarding.. But, most definitely will keep you (and everyone) posted on this. Any ideas throw it at me!

But in all honesty, lets face it I get to drive it from time to time and go to meets.. etc.

    Nice gesture mate!

3dr or 5dr comes completely down to what you prefer aesthetically and I guess how many times you have passengers in the back. I have a 5dr and wouldn't even consider a 3dr, I prefer the looks of the 5 and carry passengers all the time, have heard off needing the right 'technique' to fold the front seat forward without hitting the sun visor too.

Think the basic mods would be exhaust, coilovers, tune, wheels, CAI, depends if you are going for looks/power/handling.

I think there are a number of R's for sale in the FS section at the moment, are you looking for manual or DSG?

I love my R32! Good luck!

Thanks Brad - yeah definitely getting the DSG - love those paddles we both fell in love with that R32 note. That note makes me wonder why there's a stereo!

Regardless mate, cheers for the opinion!

    3 Door!
    Make it stand out more.
5 doors makes it too regular.
Basic mods have a look at my build thread also.
Wheels, coilovers and rear sway bar are the first things you should be covering.
    Good luck

    +1

If you seek a purist R32, you want 3 door, manual, and option sports recaro seats.

Modding is a personal choice, but would agree with the suspension and wheel set up.

Excellent present by the way. Gob smacked !

3 door with factory recaro's, if you can find this, your car will hold its value better too
