This has got to be the most awesome post anyone has done ever. kudos x 1000.

My 2009 Gti passenger door is no longer opening, less than 3 weeks after the warranty ran out. Very clever these Germans (in this case, as i got the 5 door, in cahoots with their South African lackeys) that they can time it with such precision ! I am now looking forward to all the other things going wrong, and sure enough, today, there's an awful vibration at anything over 90 km/h. Hopefully just needs a wheel balance, but the vibration has literally come out of nowhere (again, just after the warranty expired).

I'm hoping VAG will fix the door lock under goodwill as the car has only done 25,000km (and has been VW serviced), so IMO the part has failed rather than worn itself out through use. It's even usually only the driver in the car. Maybe it failed from lack of use, lol. But incredibly surprised and thankful this post exists. Will need it if VAG don't come to the party.

btw, the Unlock & pull on handle method described is working for now, after about 15 attempts each time.

VAG came to the party and fixed the locking problem at no cost to me.

Once you are here i can fix it for you but its not that hard just seems very involved due to the number of steps.

Great post for the guys who know what there doing.

Me? I have to go to my local dealer, pay up and shut up.

I wonder if it is worth writing to VW Australia and complaining about it? My car is 8 years old, but it has traveled only 43000 on tarmac. Most of its life sat in a nice warm garage. I might not be consider another VW next time.

it is a bummer but you can ask for a goodwill where VW will pay part of it for you.

Has anyone experienced when using the key fob all the doors lock but the door driver doesn't? I am stuck guessing at the moment but I have replaced the lock mechanism as I thought it was faulty but after replacement the door still doesn't lock.
You can hear all the clicking as the door locks but the red catch part doesn't move to lock the door unlike all the other locks on the other doors where it does.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated

    Thanks
