Question for those who have VAGCOM. When you look at the coding for Instruments, what does it say as being your "Country" and what are the implications? I've attached a screen shot of my reading below and the string to look at is the first one which reads 0003103. If I read it right, the fifth number along indicates that my car is set as "Europe" rather than 7 for Australia.
Just curious to see what other Golfs read. This screen shot is for a Mk5 - I believe it's slightly different for a Mk6.
Thanks!

each car is different - that screen shot may not apply to your car.
using VCDS 11.11.3 on my 2011 Jetta Mk5 has a completely differnet screen shot... basically similar to long coding.
I have only 2 options
Bit 0-3 Distance Impulse number
Bit 4-7 Country.
Mine is set to 00011000 which is
Bit 0-3 : 08 Distance Impulse number 8
Bit 4-7 : 10 Country Rest of World (RoW)
Distance meter can change how you speedo reads. Most VW's read way under actual speed (GPS comparison) - due to strategic planning or choice of undersised tyre combinations at factory.
Anyway I changed my Bit 0-3 to the highest impulse 8 and now my speedo reads only 4% under at 100km/hr rather then 8-9% it was previously
Country Code - changes how the display operates (km vs miles, degrees F vs Celcius etc) and some functions of headlight lighting US do not have DRL options or City Lights etc

Thanks for the info guys. Gigitt, that screenshot is of my car, that's why I was curious as to why it's set to Europe. Makes perfect sense re the units displayed, etc.
Australian cars are usually set to Europe or rest of world. It also changes some extra comfort settings for lighting like coming home, corner lighting with fogs lights. USA people when adding fogs turn on Europe or RoW to add fogs as US setting does not have this feature they then have to change he temp and travel setting s back to F and miles via the MFD
the usa function activates the ding ding ding alarm when the drivers door is open and the key is still in the ignition. UK and USA settings give MPH and MPG as initial settings but can be changed as already mentioned. Any other hints??? What is peculiar about the australia setting?
