I ran 3 sets 225/40/18 Goodyear asymmetric for track days, price about $680-900 for all 4s.They were good for both wet and dry. Now 235/40/18 AD08Rs for about $1100 only done one track day, they grip well and haven found the limit yet.

Matt, if it's your first few track days I would recommend using normal street performance tyres like goodyears etc over AD08Rs first. On my goodyears they don't screech a lot until I'm almost at the cars limit, which makes me ease of instead of pushing. On the other hand, the AD08rs screech a lot even when I'm not pushing really hard which worries me causing me to back off. But mates noted I'm barely melting/using the tyres and I should push even harder.
TLDR try some normal tyres first and once you're comfortable get the AD08Rs.

Has anyone had Michelin PS3s on their GTI? I have Conti Sport Contact 5s getting towards replacement time and am thinking of something with a slightly better ride, without going to a touring tyre.

We've had two sets of PS3s on my wife's Accord Euro and I've been really impressed with them on that car. But just not sure how they would compare to the CSC5s on the GTI. I'm willing to sacrifice a tad of top-end dry road grip/traction but still want top-notch wet weather grip and braking (wet roads are common down here).

Yes I have just put some PS3's on my Mk7 GTI And the grip is amazing . I have also used them on the track last week and the grip was also great!

I used to get wheel spin from 1st to 3rd gears and now I get a tiny bit of spin in first and second.

Cheers. What tyre did they replace? And can you compare the ride quality?
