Thinking of putting wheels on your MK4? Post your questions & suggestions here.
If you are new to the whole modifying game and want to fit new wheels to your MKIV please post your questions & suggestions here instead of starting a new thread. Thanks.
This thread will deal with the basics but if you need some more in-depth fittment information our resident MKIV fitment guru Dylan8 has created an epic thread here - /vww official mkiv wheel q & a
The PCD (stud pattern) for all MK4's is 5x100 inc R32's
The centre bore is 57.1mm
Base offset is around +40 depending on the model.
What is offset?
The back spacing from the hub surface to the rim of the wheel.
What wheels will fit?
Any wheel with a 5x100 stud pattern up to 20 inch will fit. Wheel sizes between 17-19 will look the best. Any width up to 7 inches will fit without problems but any wider and you'll need to alter the car.
Spacers & Adapters
If you want to fit wheels with a different stud pattern you will need adapters. Spacers are used to space the wheel out from the hub to make it appear wider.
For inspiration & visualisation
To give others an idea of what a particular wheel set-up looks like, post a picture of your car and the following details;
Model of car:
Model of Wheel:
Suspension type and height:
Rolling/fender mod/pulling of guards:
If anyone on vwgolf.net.au has something they would like to post up please do. Id love to add it to my thread. Copy and paste the template here with all the tyresizes, widths, offsets, car height etc and ill copy it across.
Starting to get a good library happening, and im trying to get more info confirmed to add to those first few posts.
It doesnt have to have stretch/poke or be slammed, im going to start throwing up more standard fitting wheels on different suspension setups soon. so the more info people can give the better.
