    Hey guys
    Really new to this!
I recently purchased a black GTI MKV.. Looking to put some new wheels on it

Im aware the stud pattern is 112 x 5 but what offset should i have for 18"/19" wheels?

These are the wheels im opting for (going to buy matte black but powder coat them gun metal grey)

    http://www.tsw.com/alloy_wheels_interlagos.php

    They are available in 19 x 8 + 122 x 5 with a 45 offset
    Will this be ok?

Also any suggestions on lowering springs (cant afford coils)

I read all the above posts and it seems like they will fit but really thought i should double check so i dont fuck up

225/4018 on a 8.5 isnt normally regarded as stretch... can go one size smaller with most tyres and still be regarded as legal in relation to the tyre size vs wheel width.

    My personal experience =

    MKV GTI
    Wheels: 18" x 8" +48
    Tires: 225/40/18
    Suspension: Kmac progressive springs

Fender screw modification completed at front

I receive no scrubbing with the above setup and have the car lowered at the rear just above the tyre sidewall (front lowered 40mm, rear 45mm)

Scruff I think you should add some links for people to read up on. Offset calculator, the tyre stretch link..

I have a question though. Keeping stock wheels on my R32 (for now), I assume that the +51 offset is bang in the middle of the wheel arch? I want to dump the thing on my coilovers, see how it looks and Im thinking I shouldnt have troubles with rubbing. What about the front wheel arches? Should I get them flared?

just get smaller tyres if you lower it to the point you cant turn, but I doubt itll be that bad.
Have seen them on airbags and stock wheels and looks like there is a bit of room to turn

Just to be extra special and ask the question - what is the fender screw modificiation a couple of people have mentioned? I assume it's something to do with the pain in the arse screw in front of the tyre that connects the plastic inner guard to the wheel arch?
