What determines a 'stanced' car from standard car that's lowered?

    Camber on the wheels?
    Stretched Tyres?
Too low that you don't / can't drive the car anywhere?

In my mind the term "stance" does not refer to a particular ride height, wheel design or width, tyre stretch or any one thing.
It is more about achieving a pleasing aesthetic balance of all related aspects.

    This is stanced

    This is ruined.

^ I think that one is on bags to achieve that look.

I suppose the term stance is different for everyone.

Yep, agree with Tim on the fine line between stanced and ruined. Some people just can't help themselves and cross that line into ruined.

I guess it depends what we are defining as "stanced"...?
all of these below have 'stance' according to people these days. "tuff stance" "sick stance" "stanced" could be used to describe any of the below depending on the owner/person commenting.

I know iv seen stock golf on 30mm drop springs referred to as having "great stance" many a times on VW forums.
    Black VW Bora
Silver Leaf Metallic Passat CC (the old mans)
Black VW Vento + Black VR6 (project)
    Blue 6N Polo (Kirstims)

With the right wheel/tyre combo a 30mm drop can look damn good.
For instance a mk6 GTI with a 30mm drop looks about right with an aggressive offset wheel and wide enough tyre.

A 30mm drop is good enough to maintain practical it. Personally I wouldn't go any lower because I scrap sometimes entering or exiting steep driveways. The hard bit is always choosing the right set of wheels.
