Seals are fine. The Teflon rings on the tips are the tricky ones. The VW engineer I spoke to said as long as the injector port is clear and ring not too degraded, you can reuse. Seals are a must tho
Update - managed to get them out using the advice above - thanks guys.
Now to put the new seals on - apparently it can be done without tool :-)

Be real careful when you take the injectors out. I did this carbon clean recently on my tfsi. The carbon was quite bad to the extent where non of the injectors came out when I pulled the manifold off. Unlucky for me because I wanted to clean them!
Two came out easy but the other two... As I had already spent and hour wriggling with wd40 and intake cleaned I decided to use the multigrips, one broke at the connector and the other sustained damage on the plastic. I bought two new ones anyway so it wasn't a real issue. Make sure you have new seals ready to go!

Good job! Glad more people are doing this, saving money and learning more about our engines.
Haven't heard any horror stories to date.

Nah not for a 118 or someone I don't personally know. Lookup Audvolks they charge about 500

looking to get this done on my Tfsi which is at 84000kms was quoted $800 which also includes service. Does this sound reasonable?

$800 with service is definately reasonable but I would ask if the cleaning is done with the inlet manifold removed.

I was also sceptical about this so I asked and was advised that the manifold would be removed.
