Will this product give any added protection from stone chips or would i still be better off getting a product like ventureshield for this?

No this product does not protect against stone chips as it acts like another clear coating to the paint.
Clear bras or the ventureshield that you mentioned will protect against stone chips

    Mercedes CLS350 Opti-coat.

Even though Mercedes are known to have the protective ceramic clear coating on their paint it still needs to be protected as the cermaic is only a fraction of the total thickness of what the cler coat actually is.

Pre-soaked with mix of APC and shampoo

Clayed. This car was 2 months old.

Car wash given a full IPA wipedown after wash then Opti-coat was applied.

    Mazda 6 Wagon Opti-coat

Most other paint protectants contain fillers which gives you a false sense of finish and these will wash out overtime.
Opti-coat cures clear which gives you a true finish so it is recommended that any paint correction be carried out before hand if required.

This Audi came in for Opti-coat and tint.

For a new car the paint condition was pretty average and I was surprized the dealership let it go out with water spots all over the roof, boot & bonnet.
Condition of the paint after full wash, clay & IPA wipedown.

The water spots were corrected with a couple passes with the rotary before applying the Opti-coat as the coating would have locked in these marks if not removed.

    Afters

    With tint

Impressive! I would like to know if this product would help protect against swirls.

There isnt anyting on the market that is hard enough to prevent swirling but Opti-coat cures harder than normal clear coat so it will provide better resistance against it.

I did my first test of the Opti-coat on my wifes car on the
30th August 2010 and here are the beading shots 3 months after.
Water is from the car being out in the rain.

The car has only been washed twice since the coating was applied.
