VWGolf.Net.au Engine Oil Brand/Viscosity Grade Use.

Just to get a bit of information in one place lets post up what oil we are using.
I have heard anything from 0w30 to 10w60 to be used in my golf gti. So lets see what everyone is using!

    Car Model:
    Power:
    Oil:
    Comments:

For example, my set up is.

    Car Model: 2009 Mk6 Gti
    Power: Stage 3, 220kwatw
Oil: Penrite 10 Tenths Racing 10w40
    Comments:
This oil made start up a lot better and also the car idles and runs smoother. 10 Tenths is dense with zinc which is great for protecting your motors metal contact parts. This oil is great for protecting your motor but you must make sure the car is warm before revving the car out. The downfall with this oil is that the high zinc count has been known to ruin Catalytic Converters (and is subsequently not great for emissions), however I am running a metal cat so it should resist the damage caused. I change my oil every 5000km.

    Car Model: 2011 mk6 Gti
    Power: Stage 3, 240kw
Oil: OEM castrol, 5w30 (I think)
Comments: will need top up, roughly 1 liter every 2000ks. But I find my oil temps stays more consistence (95-99) where as others I've tried like to climb and sits fairly hot (100-106) oil is changed every 7500ks

FYI I'm sitting at 101xxx ks

Car Model: '08 Mk5 GTI DSG
    Power: GIAC Stage 2, 171.9fwkw
    Oil: Penrite Enviro+ 5w40
Comments: Was using 5w30 but the car ate through it way too quick. Glad I changed to the 5w40.

Do you want me to make this a sticky? Perhaps change the thread title to: VWGolf.Net.au Engine Oil Brand Use.

title updated, I think it would be beneficial, when I first got my golf I found it hard to find solid information on what oil people were using for different applications
