Lets see how you go in the tuner challenge next year.. There is no need to be arrogant, You've never proven any of your cars that you have built..

How about less talk and more action.. When your 550hp TT is ready we can have a WSID night and maybe a track day too? OH that is of course if Nick is up too it..
Oh and for the record the prices you charge are more than I payed for my turbo..
Oh yes and it's Canadian german of course...
Thank you AP. There is no arrogance here, just friendly talk with some well balanced observations, most take as humor/education. So in the spirit of education (not overreaction), what you may not be clear on is that RamSpeed is NOT a 'tuner'. We are mostly an importer and installer of world leading RETAIL German tuning solutions for Audi & VW, this includes ABT Sportsline among others,

    ABT Car Configuration LINK

although, as evident on few cars on this forum, we do engineer specialty work and fiddly installations for parts other than represented on RamSpeed Webiste. (body kits, suspension components and many, many other performance related jobs)

We can source well engineered and proven solutions from mild (ABT) to absolutely wild, all tailored for our customers wishes and all within 12 month product and labor guarantee. We NEVER go out to produce the fastest, most powerful car. This decision belongs to our customers, not us. We have however for the record, built the most powerful cars in this country,(not VAG cars) but this thread is not about this.

As to proof?, we don't need to prove any of the cars we built, they are not our cars and certainly not our parts or tunes. Owners are welcome to do what they like to in order to prove anything for themselves, we are confident and guarantee results publicized openly by world leading VW and Audi tuners like ABT Sportsline (we don't promise gains, our German partners do and deliver exactly that and more), who have invested millions of Euro in all of their RETAIL power kits with testing facilities and product guarantees which are simply unavailable from local 'tuners' or indeed VW Australia themselves. (below video from our last trip to ABT and inside of their engine bench test room where an R8 engine is being tortured to the breaking point with glowing exhaust and the lot, in order to ensure total product quality)

AP, as you have noticed, we are simply unable to build Frankensteins or perform experiments on customers cars, all of our clients demand quality, reliability and attention to detail which we deliver with leading brands not just for the VW and Audi community, but Porsche, Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mercedes, BMW and other European makes. We can not afford experiments for all of these highly complex brands (many of the experiments as we call them end up being towed to our shop from other places). We rely heavily on deep experience and volume of upgrades performed in markets much larger than our own. Markets like Germany which have initially engineered, developed and tested power solutions way before most of the original cars see the light of a day on any Australian showroom floor simply can not be discounted.

As to prices?. I don't believe we ever took an order from you, but yes quality, world renowned engineering and brands do cost more then an average, as does the time and IP we develop along the way working on these complex European cars. The analogy is simple..there is Rolex and there is Timex, some will never own or appreciate Rolex, for them we don't make apologies for not offering or selling a VERY GOOD Timex pieces (to put it in an over simplistic brand analogy)

AP, we (sincerely) wish you a Happy New Year. Let's rest before 2011 begins.

A bit of a tangent and a question for the Ramspeed guys. Are the DSG clutches significantly different between the 7 spd Audi and VW units?
I've been looking at the Q5 as a potential replacement car for my wife (I may shoot you some Qs, Robby!), and noticed their 7spd DSG were rated much higher (torque) than those in the new VWs.

I would have put this in the Ramspeed section but I can't make a new thread in there. Mods feel free to move this if need be.
I saw an ABT kitted Q5 on ozAudi that I believe was your work - hence the question.

I think the point that needs to be emphasized here is that performance is only part of the puzzle. Its the overall experience that really matters. Everyone knows I have a ABT Sportsline supercharged R32 but everyone also knows its not the fastest. Do I really care if I have a 10s car down a 1/4 mile or that it runs a low 1 minute on Eastern Creek? Not one bit. People tune cars for different reasons and honestly, spending money on a car that goes crazy on 1/4 miles or a track is not on the top of my list. If I wanted power I would have done the same setup as AP's, a great car as AP's is and I have driven this car so I know what its like to a certain degree, but his car is faster than a Lamborghini Gallardo, Porsche GT3/GT2 and many, many other cars but will you get the same overall experience driving a Lambo compared to our Golfs? Probably but maybe not? I know when I drive my Porsche Turbo S, the overall experience is so different and dare I say, a lot better than driving my Golf and its not about speed. Its the moment you turn the key on your engine, when you take a seat in the cockpit, when you hear all the aural tunes on idle and on acceleration, when you smell the leather, when you punch the accelerator and stop. Well you get the picture...

There are now 3 x ABT Sportsline Superchargers in Australia installed by Ramspeed. This is a rare accomplishment especially in a country like ours. We should also feel fortunate to actually see these cars in our shores. These 3 charged R32's is a testament to how good these products are and how well Ramspeed have stood behind their customers. Its also not about German vs everyone else but one cannot help but emphasize German engineering is top shelf. We drive german cars so I think we can all agree on that.

Robby: I dont think you will see this car on a drag strip or a race track. Speaking for myself, I cannot bear to see my R32 on a race track. If I wanted to track my car, I would have purchased a dedicated track car. Its a different philosophy.

after my collision in the jetta, i can also confirm that german cars are by far the safest i've ever been in. (not that i've been in many crashes or anything)

If you have a look at how my jetta looked like after a 70km/h crash into another car, the front was crumples, both airbags deployed (driver + passenger) and i walked away from it with a small air bag burn mark just under my left wrist.

and robby, going down a drag strip only proves that you're faster than the other guy. lap times, same deal. as per what jose said, tuning a car is much more than quickest track time, 10 second car, et. al. If that's what you're into though, the biggest competition is always going to be yourself. you are always in competition with yourself and I find that this is the greatest challenge of all....trying to beat your own PB, rather than chasing after that guy setting sub 1:10's at wakefield

AP's R32 has a combination of raw power and the option of going on the odd track day here or there (though he has his full CF lotus series 1 for the trackdays methinks ), and also with the r32 being one of the quickest R32's in the country as well as it being daily driven. It's in a league of its own and can hold its own with the big names such as porsche, lambo and ferrari's.

Jose's ABT supercharged R32 hasn't got the power to match AP's twin turbo HPA tuned R32, however, having said that, it's not as "hardcore" as AP's. No bucket seats, no crazy brake setup (I think AP's has 8 pot HPA RS brakes compared to Jose's newly installed brembo's 6 pot). THe approach is pure street (correct me if I am wrong jose ). A comfortable daily driver with just enough power to get rid of the flat spot on the R32, and quick enough to get you into trouble if you're too heavy with the right foot. Retaining comfortable leather seats as well as some CF exterior bits to keep it looking nice and slick.

My Golf R is currently stock, but because it's my only car (apart from the nissan pulsar, which is now back with my parents), it's my daily driver. It takes me everywhere from work to uni to home, etc. Personally, power isn't as important as comfort, reliability and peace of mind in my case. It's quick enough as it is, but eventually i'll prob get a Stage 1 reflash to begin with but will add on and swap over OEM items to aftermarket to improve breathing and make it run nicer (e.g bigger FMIC, fuel pump, turboback), a nice drop with some KW coilovers and front and rear sways. That's all. It will never be the fastest Golf R out there but hey, it still gives me a grin on my face and thats what counts...for me anyway.

I have to say that as a new member to this forum and this being only my 10th post I am surprised at what has taken place simply because someone asked the question "will it be faster than AP's"

As many of you have rightly stated the answer to that is "no"

I cannot comment on the rivalry between members however I never intended on using my car as leverage to make a point or to win any challenges, made up or otherwise

I came here to draw on the expertise and wisdom of those who came before me, to build a car that blows my dress up not anyone else’s and to share that car and my experiences with likeminded individuals, Jose is right you will never see my car on a drag strip nor have I any intention of outdoing anyone else or making bold claims about what my car can do, comparison is always welcome but in the words of Eddy Griffin " I don't come round to your house and f*ck up your high, so why'd you have to do it to me"

I'd welcome any questions or open discussion about the car as many of you have already done,

Let it be said that it was actually the article about Anthony's car in last year’s top tuner challenge that inspired me to modify the car to the extent with which I have chosen, but we each have our own vision which should not be used as a reinforcement of who is best but as the basis for expanding ourselves and the cars we build and where that knowledge and inspiration comes from.

I'd like to end with a few quotes from some well respected members

    With Love

    Adam

Well to be honest guys there won't be any Scirocco updates on the internet due to some knobs taking illegal video's without consent and then posting them up on Youtube!!
To be very honest I'm sick and tired of all the BS and slander on other forums about me and my cars and how I earn my money!! I know it's my fault for posting in the first place, So
I'm going to be the one to put an end to it!

I build the cars for my self and from now on I'm going to enjoy them for myself!!

I know there will be a lot of you pissed at me for this but I have three kids, wife and business that are far more important than having some one say sick car mate!!!
    Hahahaha

Life has its ups and downs and some things can put hobbies into perspective, like family/relationship, work, home, health or other personal issues.
We've even sadly had people from one of our drives later have a fatal accident. It is such a waste and so sad.

I think we should try to be available and around for people when they need it. Iam only saying this because I have had some experience of this recently and a friend is dead and we had no idea until he was dead.

We shouldn't take this forum fun too seriously; life is too precious to not enjoy our time here.

I hope that everyone reading this thread can reflect on their behaviour on and off the forum, their dealings with people and think about what matters in life. Then come here to enjoy the discussion of our cars and fun that can be shared.

Thanks, everyone. There's so much more to life than this place, even though it is a fun place to be

PS. Hopefully, in time, we can learn more about this Scirocco and any future Scirocco projects. It is such a great project car.

To share information and if it is interpreted as "showing off", or boasting in accords or simply telling the world that I have so much cash I can do what I want with it, then its their own personal interpretation of what is being shared. Nothing wrong with that as long as that does not get turned around negatively and back fire on you. In AP's case, it looks like it has back fired on him, and is not his fault in anyway by the way, its just that people are people and the 7 deadly sins are in all of us.

However, truthfully, I dont care if you have bought a 1M dollar car or have done a 1 dollar mod. The fact you have shared it with us is good enough for me. Its now up to me to interpret that and if you have a solid mind about you, then you need to taper those 7 deadly sins.

I dont necessarily agree with Robby_Jai's comment either that this forum is like threading on thin ice. My interpretation on Robby's comment is just that we simply are being asked to think the words before saying it, be more mature, and have some sense of respect and decency. These are qualities that humans should pursue anyway but there will always be people who will post before thinking, that are jealous or bitter, bullies or simply wanting to ignite negative responses because they feel its funny and entertaining. There is a famous saying that goes "if you have nothing constructive to say, then dont say it".

All the best AP. I'll be seeing you around for sure.
If you don't have a vision, don't start, if you do something, do it properly, if you're not 100% happy, do it again!
