Potential buyers beware - Scirocco R (CVR 36W) "Dealer executive" HA!

    Hi ladies and gents,

Just had a browse at this vehicle on carsales and at VW Five Dock on the weekend and noticed something strange about it.
There were barely any details of the vehicle except that it was "a Volkswagen Australia dealer executive vehicle".

    Advert with no info, suspect:

    http://www.carsales.com.au/dealer/de...8271004/?Cr=10

    It sure bloody was!

It was a test vehicle for car mags, reviewers and weekend warrior friends of VW, steer clear of this car as the gearbox was hopping mad when I drove it around at 60km/h.

buying a performance car i wanted something brand spanking new for that exact reason haha. it's the kind of car that is very likely going to be thrashed by other test drivers, sales reps taking it home for the day or going to lunch etc etc.

All these complaints and yet no substance. Engine break in with a trashing is what they need.

And the smart buyer would leverage the shit out of the dealer on price.

the only concern is the gearbox, that probably shifts bad because it MAY have learned the behavior of always been gunned hard, (dont think this is actually a thing though- but if it is that d be great so you dont have to get a new mechatronics unit) otherwise newclutch pack, brakes and tyres shouldn't total more than 5 grand installed (HINT GET 5grand off asking price) and mechatronics should be covered under warranty, and you can leverage the video as a big bargaining chip especially if the dsg is jumpy.

other than that I kinda agree with the others- properly run in, and i bet you its internals are cleaner with less carbon build up for its kms than another R.
    Though one big problem

That guy was driving recklessly on public road right? is this right? or is this particular private?, cause I think that's more sketchy then a dealership trying to rip people off selling thrashed cars..
also, talk about novice camera work, he makes Michael bay look good. and the vignetting wow.

If you want a scirocco and not too fussy then you could get a real bargain. If it's been that thrashed then you would hope things break whilst under the warranty and get replaced. You see cars in perfect condition and treated very well with things that still
    break anyway.

so what's the go on running in a new car these days? I'm getting a wolfie in a couple weeks, I've not owned a brand new car before, and I'm reading conflicting info on how to drive in the beginning. Any articles or threads here on the forum about it?
