    Andy's 2016 mk7 R - Manual

    Hi guys,

Been lurking for ages finally have something worth showing here. picked her up 12/2/16 and absolutely love it!
Last car was a 308rwkw Vz Clusbsport so this is quite a change for me but no regrets at all.

well its a 2016 pure white 7R with panaramic sunroof (wasn't interested in DAP) and its a manual! tested a dsg and although I liked it just felt like it was missing something.
While I was awaiting delivery I was worried if I had made the right choice but as soon as I got it I love it and wouldn't change a thing.

Nice choice with the Manual. With the shift knob I can highly recommend a Black Forest Industries GS2 gear knob, I have one myself. I also had a DG short shifter for about 30,000km which I did enjoy but after removing it and installing 42 Draft Designs shifter bushings along with the stock shifter I actually think it's better. The shift on these cars is pretty much excellent from factory.

Im actually quite fond of the stock shift and feel. I just feel its, from lack of a better word, soft.
I might take your advice and try the bushings first and go from there. Ill also look into the bfi knob. Thanks

No worries mate. Shop around for the bushes too, quite a few tuning companies make them nowadays..

    Hi Andy,
    Congratulations!
I highly recommend the Dieselgeek short shift. Had one in my old mk6 R & it was great (current R is DSG so don't need one).
I found it takes around 2 weeks of daily driving to fully settle & bed in. It transforms the shifts & makes them so precise that you couldn't miss a gear if you tried. Couple that with with the BFI shift knob & you're all sorted & set for a fun manual drive every time you get in the car. The shifter "clicks" into gear & it really shortens the throw. Great fun & easy to install, although it took me 4 goes to "fine tune" it to the point where I could select gears with 1 finger.
All the best with your new ride mate, enjoy😎
