Question, the P34 update only left 112 MB free out of 7.41 available GB on an 8 GB SD card. Which obviously is all countries in our region. With the May P38 update (340MB) is that just Australia, and should be extracted by itself on a clean SD card?

    Cheers,

    Paul

Anyone tried updating the V1 maps for the 2012/13 Golf. I'm reading that these new updates are not compatible with V1?
I'm also reading that the original SD card MUST be used as the card itself is the copy protection?

    Hi, I can confirm that

    P38_N60S3MIBS2_ROW_NT

is indeed Australia only and seems to work. I havent gone out to the airport to see if the changed roads are on it but it definately works fine

you need to take the car to the dealer and have 'mapcare' activated on your 2012/2013 mk7 golf with V1 maps then you can update the maps. supposedly there were approx. 3000 golf's in Australia with V1 maps that didn't have mapcare activated from factory, I had my my14 gti with V1 maps in to the Reynella dealer in Adelaide about 3 weeks ago and they activated mapcare and updated my maps to the current version all for free...

Took it to the dealer yesterday. They bricked a couple cars a week or two ago, but got a fix from VW last Friday for the V1 map update. Probably what you said? They also updated the voice pronunciations as there was a newer update since the voice fix update from last year. So I'm glad I didn't muck around myself as the voice update is separate again. even though I had about 15GB of various map updates downloaded, but didn't want to risk it. All good now. Think I'll let the dealer do future updates. Easier, and they offer a warranty in case of issues, which do occasionally happen.

Apparently the SD card is what is termed an "automotive grade" card. This is why standard cards won't work, no matter what their quality.

I went to the page, downloaded the file, ran it, it conducted BU etc and then made new file.
But when placed in car, says 'incorrect data'....
    Any idea?

There is a newer thread I started late last year, with a much easier and streamlined map update procedure.

    http://www.vwgolf.net.au/showthread....te-application

Latest version remains at 5G0919866AQ0044 ROW 2017/18 from around October 2017.

I'm getting a page doesn't exist error when clicking on the link. Used to work and I setup DiscoverCare v1.0.4 shortcut to check my update status. This still works fine. Not sure whether you can tunnel through the website to try and fix. Maybe need to ask your dealer and get the link they use for updates. That is what I did. They were happy to give me all the details. Easier on them I guess?
