Good news - you'll be back to AWD in no time.

It can't come any sooner! And of all days not to have my car, I pull up next to a modded MK6 today, the driver is definitely the type with a twitchy right foot and I'm driving the mrs Corolla!

Nope, no codes at all showed up on my OBD Link, nor any dash lights etc.

So I picked the car up from the dealer last week after the 'repair' and it's still a FWD.. It was a late night pick up so couldn't go straight back in. Called them and asked them why am I looking at a report which notes that the car was tested when clearly it wasn't because the problem is still there!?
So they want me to take the mechanic for drive and show him?
Seriously, how hard is it to floor it in 1st?

So I picked up the car from another VW dealer and they've actually fixed the issue. Turns out that the wet clutchs in the Haldex unit were worn out... Maybe too many launches by the old owner? Who knows! All done under warranty and now I have grip!

Thats good news, strange the clutches were worn but then again if it started to go it would just get worse from slipping, great that it was all done under warranty.

I think my car has developed an AWD/DSG failure.

I tried to take off from stationary enthusiastically and the front wheels kept hopping and not able to put power down. The 1st to 2nd gear was also very slow (like manual gear box shifting) with a big loss of acceleration (my body jerked forwards) before 2nd gear is engaged. The 2nd to 3rd shift is much faster (normal speed). No error code was triggered. Car was in normal mode, DSG in D, and I just stepped 100% on the accelerator. The wheel hops occur even if I just step say 70-80% accelerator as well.
    See video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YVoZ2xQmn48

Then I tried launch control - car in race mode, DSG in S, hold stability contorl to turn it off, hold down brake, step on accelerator 100%, car hold rev at 3500rpm, lift off brake. The car slipped the front wheels, speedo showed 90kph, then the car finally cut power and wheels gripped, with the speedo dropping back to real road speed. I did a VCDS scan afterwards and the below error was triggered at the time of this video.
    1 Fault Found:
    16670 - All-Wheel Drive
    C1113 07 [008] - Mechanical Failure
Intermittent - Confirmed - Tested Since Memory Clear
    Freeze Frame:
    Fault Status: 00000001
    Fault Priority: 1
    Fault Frequency: 1
    Reset counter: 121

Can someone please tell me that a Golf R is not meant to wheel hop, and launch control is not meant to slip the wheels (even though stability control is off)?

Yep I had this issue. Most likely haldex issue as all have said. Mine fixed under warranty no questions asked .
