Shiny! Strange it had such low km with bald front tyres though. My 18" lasted well over 25K, replacing two only when i chewed out the sidewall on one (was nearly due to be replaced anyway).

Yeah it was pretty weird to me. NRMA guy who did the PPI was pretty mystified as well.

Yeah quite odd, not sure what to make of it. We'll see how things go with the new rubber. Getting them fitted on Saturday.

Also if anyone is interested in dash cams, I bought a Blackvue DR650S-2CH dashcam along with a Power Magic Pro so that I can have the front & rear cameras operate on motion-sense while the car is parked. I had it fitted by The Car Kit Company in St Leonards in Sydney, since I didn't want to be prying off the trim near airbags and the like. Anyway I'd highly recommend them, the appointment was very easy, cost $200 for the install, and the result is extremely neat and tidy.

Could have just been a bad alignment? I sold my R with 28,000km and the original tyres still had another 5-10,000km in them. I get my wheels aligned once per year.

I was thinking the same thing - i'll have the wheels aligned when I get the new rubber fitted. By the way thanks again Lucas for all the insight when I was searching for this car, it was awesome help.

Go with the GTC01RR's. Haven't seen them on a Golf yet.

Mate you're killing me! I'm leaning towards the RS05RRs but really can't decide. By the way I am pretty sure grandturismo has run the GTC01RRs (and the RS05RRs) on his GTI, but he doesn't have many pictures with them fitted.
