Volant CAI from Tarmac Engineering Install

    Before

    Heat Shield on

    Finishing up

    Tricky bits were:
Warming the engine prior to engine cover removal helps it pop off easier, this requires a lot of force to pull off
Working out the heat shield nuts under the rear engine cover lugs, gotta undo them prior to removing lugs.
Heat shield doesn't come with nuts/bolts, I did find screws/nuts for rack equipment were about right.
Overall it wasn't too bad to do.

Question: Do you guys attach the filter to the intake housing or just let it sit?

    Chris,

My Volant sits away from the intake housing at the front/grille area.

To attach the heat shield you can reuse the engine cover mounts by turning them over - the shield sits on the bolt & then fasten it down with the nut.

    Hope that helps....

    Cheers,
    Dave.

    Thanks Dave

I did see that as an option, wasn't sure putting the plastic lugs closer to the exhaust.

    Update:
Purchased some used Advan A048 tyres and ordered some rims for track days. Should be heading to Winton on the 12th Feb.

Also got a mate at the local engineering shop to make up a mount for the extinguisher too. Came up really nice.

    Thanks to Aaron @ http://www.whippetengineeringalbury.com/

Also, here is my video of the Winton lap last year.

I am after some advice on brake upgrades that won't cost the earth too. Looking a the Member's Rides for inspiration...

    Cheers,
    Chris

Project mu pads and DBA4000 rotors would be a good start

I have VWR BBK, but if i did it again i would go the AP racing as pads/rotors easier to get.

Get some A050 for the track wheels aswell, i dropped about 3 secs per lap at barbs from that alone

Thanks for the advice, this weekend is Winton Sprints Round 1, will look to see if I can get the rotors and pads before next outing.
Playing with a Gtech, 0-60MPH got a 4.89, rather impressed.
