I noticed from your photo you removed the top of your catch can. I use to do this to clean mine then I found the "o" rings started to swell and I could not get it back together. I do not know if the rings are available but I would not pull it apart again.

Whilst I appreciate the theory of cleaning... I agree with above, and would recommend against taking the catch can apart... I just added the drain tap and put a length of hose to drain the can by placing a container under the car as needed.

After 11k, looking at he size of your bottle and comparing it with the size of the catch can, I think your catch can might have been full for a while. I get about a cm of sludge out of the can a week.

Chris, and anyone else who needs o-rings etc, just drop me a line, all replaced free of charge. I am carrying more and more small parts for the cans these days.

Also anyone who got basic rubber hose from me, if it starts to perish - and if it does it will go from the hottest, just out of the engine cover first - again drop me a line, I'm planning a free replacement program anyhow....but so far it seems to be holding up beyond two years.

I would suggest flushing the can out with carb cleaner without pulling it apart, as it is easy to damage the NPT thread in the alloy cap when removing the screws all the time....but if you are careful then no major issue.

I'd happily shell out o-rings to you guys who want to maintain them, the whole point is to keep that crap out of your engine....

great thread. any views on where I would install the 42DD catch can if I went with a CAI like below? Could the mounting bracket that comes with the kit be used to mount it other than the suggested position (which looks to be unavailable with below CAI).

    any thoughts appreciated...
