    Installing Pod Filter~~

    hi all
im new to the euro/vw scene, just got my fifth car which is a mkiv gti 1.8t last week.!
i come from a background of silvias and skylines so this is rather an interesting transition.
anyway read a few threads already on pod filters and picked up on tips where ive headed towards the dry pods direction. car is stock everything and i am taking off the air filter, unplugged the MAF piece (i think?) and this piece i cant figure out is attached to the stock air box? im not sure what it is and what it does so i took fotos of it and decide to check it out first online.

i can see bolts that unbolt it and was thinkin of just ziptying it to some cables but saw the metal looking thing inside so thought id double check.

thanks in advance for ur non-flaming help

    Welcome Vincent.

From the part number it should be the ignition control unit.. I'd say the metal part is a heatsink and it backs onto the air box for cooling.

I'll leave it up to someone else more experienced to tell you what to do with it.

you can relocate it but make sure it gets good airflow

    Hi Mate,

Its best to keep that ignition module as cool as possible, Matt from Camden GTi told me to relocate it to the firewall for it to stay as cool as possible. Only reason i know because mine blew and it cost a fair bit to get a new one

    Hope that helps!

    Cheers

pehaps dremmel out a part of the CAI and put it back in, then cable tie it down onto some liquid gasket.
