I think there lies the problem. The Focus is too harsh as a daily driver. Too raw for the commuting function.

Also this is a sponsor thread. Please respect them and ask real question and not try to burn them down with negative and subjective remarks.

x 2. i would never spend a nickel on a ford. shame we all have to pay more than what these imports are worth but that's tough. until you drive a scirroco R you can't really pass judgement.

Got to say Sammy you're way out of line posting what you posted in this sponsors thread. It's like saying another brand of tune is better in a different tuner sponsors thread. Your personal opinion is yours, fine, but it's not right in this specific scenario (if it was outside of this room, not a problem).

100% your opinion. I doubt everyone in the world thinks $70k is too much for a front wheel drive. Some people might not even care what kind of drive a car is for the money?! Focus looks better TO YOU but to some they would think this car looks way better that a Ford Focus. Faster? People often pay big dollars for cars much slower, all the time (hey my GT-R is way faster than cars that cost 10 times more but not everyone wants to own a 1993 GT-R!).

And since you brought it up. Nope. I'd NEVER pay for a FORD Focus, ever. Love the idea of the car, looks OK outside too, but the interior is so ugly I'd never get over feeling sick every time I had to look at it.

So what's the story here. Is VW actually importing these or only Scuderia?

That post right there is FULL of contradictions? $68k is too expensive for a FWD... a brand new Ford Focus RS is between 64k-67k (last year it was closer to 70k). We are talking close to 70k, 1-2k is not "cheaper" or more "expensive".

As for the looks, that's personal, different people have different opinions on that. The ford is very slightly faster, on fastest laps.com scirocco actually have a faster 0-100 time, plus very close in most circuits, the focus is "fun" on a track, but you actually have to be good to make fast times, torque steer is still unbearable, as for day to day drive? no competition there, scirocco is much much much better car.

They are both FWD, the scirocco is only "overpriced" because it is an import, they are rare in the country. When VW actually bring them in they will be closer to 60k mark.

I would pick Scirocco anyday of the week over the RS. Looks are just opinions, but as an overall package? scirocco is much better, all the RS has is rawness, it is just a bad set up for a day to day car, i'd have a sore back driving that thing everyday, the interior is boring plus it is just poorly made, a 70k car with such poor design and functionality, the exterior is just plain ugly.

At the end of the day, I would pick the RS250 over both scirocco and focus RS.

But on topic 68k is a bargain, VW might be bring this car in next year, but the waiting list will be enormous, people won't be getting into their cars till mid 2013 or even 2014. Paying that extra 4-5k to have it now? worth every penny. Plus it is a sexy beast!

It's too much for my budget, but still good value when you consider the costs and no wait.

Stunning looking cars, wish I could afford one.
