Back to the Future in Brazil

I was doing a web search for information on Splitty Kombis and found out that VW in Brazil still manufactures and sells the Mk 2 Kombi (the ones made from the late 60s to the late 70s) albiet with a modified front end (they have added a grill - possibly to house a radiator).

Browsing the Brazillian VW site, I also noticed that even their current Golf is the MkIV with a MKV-ish front and back. Surreal...

Yeah, Splitty's are nice aren't they? They are getting more and more expensive though. One in concourse condition is about $30K.

According to Marco, he has seen Mk2's (not the Mk 1 splitty) in Mexico split in two due to rust issues. So the Mk2 can be called Splitty's too for a total different reason.

I've been looking at splittys too, there was an old rusty one up the road from me but it ended up going for $15k, lol. Can you source them from south africa? I was looking at a south african web site late last year but didn't come up with anything.
