    paint for polypropylene

I was modifying the front plate holder to get rid of excess width. cutting it and rewelding it to take a standard plate was not the problem. the problem it had was a bit of discolouration in the plastic. As most people will tell you, paint will not stick to polypropylene. I searched the net and found a paint made especially for PP. It is called Kylon fusion. Easy to get if you are in USA. I eventually found it in a paint and paper shop in Sefton. I have baked it in an incubator at 39C. I used a satin back to look original but there are a variety of colours. It is self priming and can be sanded.

The shop I bought the paint from is Crockers at Sefton. I had two tins sent by courier to Orange for a total of 45.90.

nicely done mate! Looks very very clean. How are you going to fix the holes where the plate holder used to go?

Nice man!!! Will this work on other parts? Like plastic bumpers?
It is flexible, most of the paints will crack with movement on the car...

I am going to plastic weld the chrome plated section with abs to fill the original holes.
The black grill section will lose its vw badge. It is made from ASA plastic which welds very easily.

The paint is very flexible but I would use softeners in normal car paint for bumpers if it is to be colour watched . If the bumper is black, it would be great as it binds very easily and is self priming.

So what car is this off? Just going through the same process on my R32 grill to get rid of the plate holder completely, but after i patch up the holes i need to find a brushed chrome or a silver to use. Doesn't look like there is and option in the fusion paint.
