    Wheel / Tyre / Suspension set-up on your Mk1

What sort of set-up are people running on their Mk1s?

I'm brand new to all this and I've been searching online for ages but cant find anything definitive.

As far as I can see there's a few schools; small alloys with stretched tyres, small alloys without stretched tyres, 16s or 17s with low profile tyres. I'm sure there's more though?

Whats all this about wheels tucked under arches, how would that effect be achieved?

    What about coilovers?

I'm a pretty big fan of the wide wheel, stretched tyre look and even the whole 5 stud flat face Porsche alloy look too - opposite ends of the scale I know.

I'm sure I sound a plonker but I'd love some help on this.

I'm running H&R Cup springs and shocks, they're not super low, about 35mm off standard. More for handling than looks. For wheels I have the stock GTI 13s Tarantulas. Mk2 14" P Slots. Genuine Pirelli 14" P Slots ( with 8 Ps instead of 9) and 15" Strato ( old style 80's deep dish). I like them all.
