    My new wheels Rays GR-C's!

Bought my wheels. set of 4 two piece Rays GR-C's for $250...eBay specials

There going to need a bit of work so I plan on reconditioning them myself.
Not sure to either stick with the standard silver faces or getting them painted the same colour as the car..which is gunmetal?

As for the lip I was thinking of using Gord's aluminium polish?

Seems to be good alternative instead of having to sand and polish them!

Also anyone know what type of torquing force you need to use on the nut & bolts when putting it all back together?

35-45 ft lbs is very tight. I use 25 ft lbs for my BBS wheels and that's the recommended torque setting by popular opinion. I've compared the GR-C bolts to the BBS RS ones (I've also got a set of GR-Cs here at home ) and they run the same diameter thread, though the length of the bolt is shorter, so I'd recommended using 25 ft lbs. If you're reusing the bolts and nuts, use blue Loctite for added security.

Silver is safe but boring, colour-coding them to your car would make them stand out

What colour is your car? As above colour code the centres.

If you are going to do it yourself be prepared to be very patient. Splitting & rebuilding wheels isn't to be taken lightly and rushed. I've got a sneaking suspicion they might be welded and can't be split. A few manufactures do this with their 2 piece wheels.

Have a look on wheel-whores.com, there are loads of do's & don'ts on there.

25 ft lbs and some loctite awesome.
After watching some vids on youtube on how to put together 2-3 piece wheels some people were varying their torque settings maybe due to the size of the wheels and applications they were for ......road or race?

But this might not even be an issue if they are welded togther
How is a 2 piece wheels still 2 piece if it's welded?

Ray do you know if GR-C's are welded or have you taken a set of these apart before?

Either way they'll still need a coat of paint on the faces, think I'm swaying towards painting the centres the same colour as the car which is a dark gunmetal.

They are still 2 piece if they were manufactured in the same way as 2 piece wheels but then welded at the factory after being built.

My mate found this with a set of Reiken Turbo & Zender Sport 2 piece wheels. They do it for 'safety' apparently.

Hope they aren't though, will look good refurbed.
