    Brakes

Dont Stone me if this Thread has been Done

So am doing the brake research thing, and know that many of you running various types for a Mk5 R32

It would be nice to get some constructive feedback.

My research so far has yielded these options:

    1) BBK (yes I know there is a group buy)
    2) Racing Brake
    3) K Sport
    4) AP Racing
    5) VW Racing
    6) Audi TTRS brakes or something in the Audi range
    7) Adam's Rotors

Of the understanding that 2 piece discs are obviously the primo selection, with some offering a genuine floating two piece, and others no.

    Requirements:

    1) Smile on your dial
    2) Superior stopping with limited to nil fade to handle possible engine horsepower increase
    3) Good heat dissipation through the disc and not back into the brake line
    4) Significantly minimised brake dust
    5) Slotted but not cross drilled (with a style very much like the BBK)
    6) Same look for front and rear, and make people pop a vertebrae just to have a squiz
    7) Best performing pads without needing to be stood on to get to the performance temp range

I will assume the brake lines are being upgraded.

Looking forward to some valued info being added to this thread

    Thanks all

You can never call yourself a real enthusiast when you judge. When you mix the immature and mature, you get this car scene we have today. No matter what, every car is winning in their own ways. If you don't like a certain vehicle, just keep your mouth shut. No one needs to hear negative comments. Just enjoy everything.

these two wishes are not possible on the same setup / pads. it's like wishing for semi slick grip but at 4wd Cooper tyres 70,000km longevity.

VWR is bang for your buck for 355mm kit. Stoptech 355mm kit is better value though.

you won't get any engineering approval / mod plate if you get anything smaller than stock R32 345mm, ie: RacingBrake BBK is 330mm kit (that's if you decide to go legal in NSW)

the best people with most extensive BBK experience in this forum would be: AP, Tendy and Robby Jai. These guys have gone through brakes & BBK upgrades like they change their babies' nappies

I have the following on my VW Cars:

    1. VWR Racing 6-Pot BBK from Ian - great value for money. Great stopping power but a bit noisy. Light weight than OEM on all parts. Its not the nicest looking BBK but its not that important.
    2. Brembo GT 6-Pot BBK from Ramspeed - Great stopping power and quiet. You can get them both drilled or slotted. Light weight than OEM on all parts. Better parts than VWR(hats, calipers).
