    Swainey's MK4 GTI Build

Thought I'd start a build thread for my car, only early stages so nothing as exciting and many posts I've read but she'll get there.
So have had the golf for a few months now,
Been spending a lot of time reading up on what everyone has done and this forum has been helpful with plenty of knowledgeable golf modifiers.
Purchased the Golf Stock as anything, but in awesome condition, paint/interior have been really well looked after.
Here's a few pics of the beast and what I've done so far

    Old Shift Boot

    New Shift Boot

    old antenna

    new antenna

Replacement Double DIN Headunit and also a Full Fascia Kit
    - DVD, Navigation, Digital Radio, HD screen, voice commands

    Future Plans:
    - Taking it to Tigersoft this week for a Viezu tune
    - Have heard that Viezu Australia are currently producing an extensive range of parts for vw at the moment and will be ready for sales soon so waiting for then to hear what I can get through them
    - Coilover upgrade (possibly bilstein pss10's)
    - Brembo Break Kit
    - 19" rims when money allows
    - Interior upgrade/restoration
    - Interior LED upgrade
    - Forge Intake
    - Milltek Turbo Back exhaust
    - Window Tint
    - R32 Front Bumper, Rear Bumper and Side Skirt
    - Many more to come budget dependant haha
Will keep this updated as I go along
    Cheers

Hit a bit of a speed bump on the tune,
looks like the previous owner had a tune done a tune possibly, my log files are currently in the UK,
might need to get VW to flash the ECU, hope thats not to expensive.....
but not sure why they wouldn't say it's tuned,
maybe the tune won't be that noticeable but at least I'll know where its come from unless they got the dealer to return it to stock tune but had remaining encoding protecting from prying eyes....
    wish me luck haha

If it previously had a tune in Australia then it will most likely be a solder in chip. You would think the ECU would need to have the standard chip returned to it to be able to flash it?

Did you log the boost? That will quickly tell you if it has been tuned or not already. If it has stock boost levels then it is a possibility that its just not flashable by the Viezu software suite perhaps?

John from Tigersoft is doing some investigating at the moment, should have an answer shortly, taking it more local in the mean time to Dave from ATPG who said he'll take it for a drive and let me know if it's been tuned, said his done a lot and will just be able to tell, unfortunately I have nothing to compare it to.

Headunit has arrived in Australia according to an email, so hopefully that comes early this week and I can install it and FINALLY be able to enjoy my ipod again.

While I'm waiting on that I've purchased some new car care products to do a good clean, $200 investment but will be worth it.
Thinking tomorrow will do a wash, clay bar, pre wax, sealer, wax then interior detail. Then might do a quick photoshoot.

If only money wasn't an issue, i'd have some coilovers, milltek turbo back exhaust and brake kit on order.
Getting a quote on some R32 front and rear bumpers, if they turn out to be reasonable I'll put them on order.

You'll be hearing more from me again soon.
    Cheers

Started my headunit install, pulled out old head unit, found what harness I need and now the mess has begun for setting up wires, opted for wiring inside with a heater going, seems like the better option haha
