I am basking in the afterglow of all the wasted VAG profit in my Golf MKV.
Actually, considering it was an end-of-model parts-bin-special they probably did quite well out of me.

MQB platform seems like a great approach to building cars.
And the Pirelli p-zero is such a pretty tyre.

I think they have gone backwards in styling.

I don't mind the front grille/bumper and the lights are more aggressive than on mine. But don't love the back design...the lights?

overall i think the designers did alright, but i think the tail lights were abit of a backwards step, its more polo-esque now.
I was reading this inside woolworths like an excited teenager..the claim of 200kw...
im interested to see what design decisions and power figures they will come up with for the R
Workin' too hard to be ballin' on a budget...

Exactly, they're going to have to bump up the R, but seems their focus is to "reduce consumption by 20%, the target it says is 6.9 L/100km, down from 8.7L for the R and 7.6 L for the current GTI."

Ps: lol @ "reading it at woolies like an excited teenager"

As for styling, I agree Hayden - the windows seem significantly narrower, side ones too.

Rear lights are good by themselves. I think the rear window is too narrow.

I'm having a hard time accepting the new girl. It may grow on me, didnt really enjoy looking at mk6's either but they started looking good when they were modified.

Edit: I think I got it. Looking back a the original photo. The lower front bumper looks to type r civic-ish!

New golfs always look better in the flesh the the pre-rendered shit, so on that note, I think we'll be in for a cracker... obviously
