    Revo Stage 2 Dyno

    The run down:
Last night my car and myself experienced coil failure whist cruising down the M4 in Sydney. It was not a pleasant experience as my poor baby shook to buggery and lost at least 3/4's of her power. She did get me home however and my assumption of coil failure was confirmed today at BWA Auto with a diagnostic check which basically said one of my coils had failed.

    BWA Auto:
Can I just say their service and professionalism was first class starting from my distress call this morning to picking up my car this afternoon. Bob and Craig Whyms customer service made me feel my car was in safe hands. Also I was given a courtesy (Audi 80 V6 2.6) which was a blast to drive whist cruising to my destinations listening to Placido Domingo on cassette which I found in the car. Awesome
So with all that said I asked Bob to also dyno my car just to make sure everything is running ok and also because I will be upgrading my pump in the not too distant future and want to see just how much difference it will make.
Id like to add that all this was completed today by 330pm. The team down there is just first class.

    Maha Dyno:
Boys, you need to go down there and take a look at this thing. It looks amazing. Its a 4wd roller dyno but much more advanced than your standard Mainline or DynoDynamics dyno. This dyno can measure your power at the flywheel as well as power at the wheels. Its accurate to 1kw of the cars true power.
Its the only one in Australia and is used by Ramspeed to dyno their Ferraris, Lambos, Mercs, Porsches, Audis etc. (Just thought id throw that one in there for what its worth )

Anyway, I’m just a really happy and satisfied customer and highly recommend BWA Auto.

nice!!! !!! good to see you got your problem sorted

mind you you're gonna start a pissing war about dynos and whats more accurate.. how they derive their engine power calculations etc !!!!! that should be fun!!!

mind you based on your numbers of wheel power of 164kw and engine power of 201 which equates to about 22% drive train loss which sounds about right based on the general rule of thumb of about 20-25% drive train loss for fwd cars... so looks pretty feasible!!!!!

Nah. Not me Robby. Im just admiring the car, customer service and technology.
And love the fact my car nearly made 400nm of torque.
I am a bit confused to why the spreadsheet shows 165.8kw compared to the chart showing 164.3?

Those are great plots & tables provided by BWA! Well done to them.

ps: Throttle pos on your car needs recalibrating by the looks of it.

pps: I wouldn't get too excited with this burble - "It looks amazing. Its a 4wd roller dyno but much more advanced than your standard Mainline or DynoDynamics dyno. This dyno can measure your power at the flywheel as well as power at the wheels"

Only an engine dyno can measure flywheel figures. This is just derived, same as a DD......

Good to know that your baby is ok man!, and that BWA was more than helpful,

Maybe we can organise a Dyno day there

This is true Paul but what makes this dyno unique is the ability for it to measure the cars drag while it decelerates from the power run. On the above line graph there is a green line which shows this. The dyno formulates then calculates that data into a more accurate reading and combines the power at the wheels data to find the result. Please don't quote me on its exact method of calculation but it is impressive (to me) including the quite large LCD screens surrounding the dyno. Looks like more of a cinema room with surround sound. As far as im concerned its state of the art.

Cheers for the kudos boys and btw, im not here to start a dyno war as such but merely just sharing an experience with new technology
