Vibration at idle and burnt oil smell - Vento 2.0

First post after n00b intro so be patient!

It vibrates through the steering wheel at idle and I can feel a slight skip in the ignition timing, like a miss but an irregular one. I checked the sparkplugs and they seem pretty clean, number 1 and 4 were dirtier than the middle two though. I was told the car was serviced by a VW specialist prior to me buying it. Should I replace sparkplugs and leads? Is there anything else I could check before wasting money?

Another issue is a burnt oil smell inside the car, I have a feeling oil is leaking onto the underside of the downpipe... I know there is a little oil leak on the hot side of the motor. Where would this be leaking from?

By the way I consider myself inexperienced when it comes to motor stuff, especially with Volkswagens. I've only ever done oil changes, brakes and the likes. So I ask you in advance to forgive my ignorance hahaha.

Bump/update. The burnt oil smell ended up being a pinhole leak from the inner CV boot under the downpipe. Fixed with some Sikaflex for now...

As for the idle problem, anyone know if this kit will work on the ADY engine? http://www.germanautoparts.com/Volks...ectrical/275/1

    Check the ignition coil.
