Hey guys,
So I sold my Mk6 CW GTI which was Stage 2+ tuned to make way for my new Mk6 MY12 Candy White Golf R. I wanted United Grey or Reflex silver but it was an impulse purchase and they had one ready to go for pickup within 2 weeks so I went CW again! I actually have a camera this time so i can take photo progress shots along the way... too bad im really bad at photography but hopefully the pics will get better
Factory Options:
- Leather
- Sunroof
- Black 19's
- DSG
Ill slowly update this mod section as they are completed.
Mods/additions:
- Integrated P3 digital boost gauge
- Maniacs stealth black extension DSG paddles
- 35% front tint / 55% rear tint (meter's out to be about 20% on the rear over the privacy glass)
- Opticoat
- Black Golf R wheel caps (sitting on my desk)
- GIAC Stage 1 tune at 988 kms
Pondering:
Pondering some light mods at this stage but we will see how far i go (hard to resist haha). The R already feels significantly more solid on the road vs the GTI and I rarely track and never do drag runs so its more for daily driver enjoyment. Monday to Friday its a wife-mobile and just my weekend money bucket.
At a minimum:
- turbo back exhaust (Milltek resonated w/black tips looks the ticket)
- VWR CAI
Initial pics/progress:
Day 1 - pickup on Thursday:
Day 3 - Finally some free time to install my P3 gauge and Maniacs from my GTI. (Focus didnt behave sorry)
Week 2 - Took the car down to Dave @ Reflect Effect for tint and opticoat. (I highly recommend Dave - he also took some photos and ill link them in when he posts)
The factory dark glass proved a bit of a dilemma for me. Do I just tint the front to match the back? Or do I tint the rear for the added heat and UV protection? Well im expecting my first kid later this year so I thought id do it right and get tint over the rear glass for added comfort.
Pre-tint
Diff angle
Post tint/opticoat from side on
Post tint from rear angle - can see the variance in darkness
Post tint indoors with flurescent lighting infront and behind to show the colour and darkness diff.
Shot from the front - love the black headlights
And me trying some fancy photography effect...
