    Bummer re: metalic paint.

My (wonderful, lovely) girlfriend wrapped our golf around the front gate post when it was a few months old, with nasty scratch and dent on the rear passenger door. As we learned the hard way, metalic paint cannot be colour matched. They had to respray the whole right side of the car

The metallic paint looks terrific, however if I had my time over I'd have to think pretty hard about it. It just seems so easy to damage and so hard to restore.

Anyway, if you have damaged both the front and side, might as well get the whole thing sprayed and take this opportunity to get yourself a funky one-off paint job courtesy of your insurance company (pricks that they are).

I think you will find most car repairs will have a blending on panels that weren't damaged, as no colour is a perfect match, so they have to blend it in.

Blend it in? WUT. That doesn't sound that enticing.

Oh man, are you serious? I knew matallic was hard to match but I didn't know they had to respray that much of the car. I remember with my old car, they couldn't colour match the bumper and the metalic frigments (being highly pedantic) weren't matching in the sun. How long roughly did your paint job take?

And pricks? LOL don't get me started. The accident happen on Saturday where I got the car towed, and the car still hasn't reached the body shop yet. The car is in limbo.
