Went to the service centre this morning. One of the tech guys took it for a drive with me.

I get a call 3 hours later. They're replacing the mechatronic unit. The price to replace it is $3450. My so called "premium extended warranty" is covering the $2000. I have to chip in the rest.

    It will be replaced tomorrow.
    hopefully that fixes it..

thats so quick! did they have a mechatronics unit in stock?

what dealers did you go to?

Its with Bill Buckle VW at Brookvale.

If this does not fix the problem, I'll be taking it back first thing Tuesday and demanding they return my 1500 dollars, or else I'll be turning into the Hulk.

Got it back late yesterday arvo. The thump is still there. Feels like I've flushed money down the toilet.

Matt at Bill Buckle is usually pretty good - keep working on them. The dealer has to work for you with VW to get the clutch pack replaced.

    Good luck

So if I mention to them about a replacement clutch pack and that its a known problem, they'll know what I'm talking about?

Yeah I've briefly dealt with Matt, seems alright. I've been dealing mainly with Craig. He's alright too.

Treat the guys nice and they will go to bat for you with VW

Both guys supported me a few times with warranty claims against VW. Best Service Managers I've dealt with and very supportive if you work with them

Remember, it is VW that is the issue, generally not the Service Dept

If it is proven to be owner misuse then VW need to put that in writing.

Of course, I'm not going to be rude or pop a fuse at them.

Also, a reminder that the car is not under new car warranty. I've paid for a premium used car warranty. So I'm not sure what VW will do with that.
