NO AM radio after sharkfin antenna (genuine) installed

    Hi guys,
As the title suggests, I have just installed a genuine sharkfin antenna purchased from a member here (which has 2 plugs, 1 x radio plug (white) as per original & 1 x SatNav ?? plug (blue). However on playing radio on AM there is nothing but interference as if there was no antenna connected, FM radio appears to operate normally.
Yes I know someone is going to say "who listens to AM anyway" well it just so happens I DO !! any clues, ideas would be greatly appreciated.

I was under the impression that the sharkfin was only for the Nav, maybe not, can you not just connect the original radio antenna back in?

Yes I can but the idea was to change to the shark fin.
The shark fin has 2 separate leads & connectors as mentioned.
One the same colour (white) as the existing antenna lead & the other one blue which I think is SatNav.

    The OP does.

Maybe you should comprehend a little more what members post here ...instead of playing the post-whore.

you'll find that stock cars with the shark fin antenna have an embedded antenna for both AM and FM in rear window, which is seperately amplified for better reception. The main objective of genuine VW shark fins is to provide satellite for GPS. You may find that the FM is picking up reception purely through the length of wire from headunit to the sharkfin whilst the AM can't gain signal without amplification.
Might have to go back to the whip antenna
For more info I quickly googled a website with more detail
