For those interested, I contacted Derek from European Autotech, they sell the VWR intake for $975+$65(labour)... I also asked him what he would recommend, and he said fuel pump, so I'm tossing up between those two. Ps. He quoted 1050+130 labour for the fuel pump which seems much cheaper than on the apr website.
Just a side question... from my research I've also thought upgrading the fuel pump is only necessary if you plan to go beyond stage 2...
What if I decide not to modify further... would stage1+fuel pump be better? or stage1+intake? similar price...
That is ALOT of money for a piece of pipe with an airfilter - so glad i got mine before APR bumped the price up by several hundred dollars. There is no way in hell id pay that much for an intake. If i was you, id get another brand intake (quite a few options available) for around $500-600.

Oh really...? How much did you pay for your VWR intake? Also wondering, from your research what's the biggest difference between the VWR ones and the standard APR ones, why did you choose the VWR one?
The standard APR intakes seem very good as well, they are similarly priced compared to the other options... only reason i'm going with APR is because I get my car serviced at an APR dealer, i'm lazy lol
theres also a forge one if your keen

I got mine 1 week old (2nd hand if you want to call it that) in immaculate condition for $550, but they were around $750 brand new until APR took over distribution rights a few months ago. Since then, the price has risen significantly...same old story with APR products.
The standard APR intake (the Carbonio one) is not really a worthwhile upgrade in my opinion, i used to have one and sold it to a work collegue. As the air still travels through the restrictive engine cover, gains are minimal and sound difference is minimal too. Honestly wouldn't bother with the Carbonio it unless you can pick one up 2nd hand for circa $300-350. Its more for looks than performance or sound.
If you like the look of the VWR intake, then perhaps consider the Forge Wintake which i linked to in my previous post, they look quite similar. I wouldnt bother with the twin twin air filter version of the Forge (Twintake) as i just installed one of these on my friends Mk5 GTi a few weeks ago - it looks messy with the 2 air filters.
