    ADVICE MKV R32 DSG

    hi guys,

Got my R32 booked in on Wednesday to get the DSG checked up.

Im worried that while down shifting from 3rd to 2nd & 2nd to 1st is starting to get jerky..

bought the car second hand from a VW dealer.. factory warranty has run out, but still have dealer warranty..

Any suggestions into what I should be asking them to do?

should I push for them to reset and update the software?

any help would be appreciated guys!

    Good luck mate.

Where are you taking it and is that the standard dealer warranty they throw in when you purchased the car?

Lets us know how you go.

Let us know. Hopefully they fix it for you.

Mines still the same, and its knocking when downshifting from 3rd to 2nd and from D to N and back to D.

    Toby,

Your first Major service is at 60,000kms. As part of this service, they do the DSG as well which is a pretty costly exercise given the expense of the DSG fluid. If you are over the 60k mark, then check to see if the DSG got serviced previously. If it hasnt, then this is a less than ideal situation, to say the least.

It may also come down to a possibility with the mechatronics unit associated with the DSG.

I am sure all will be revealed when they give it the thorough once over. It's just hard to offer any real diagnostic based on your general description. It could be anything from a simple service to replacement of parts, and id rather not put the fear of god into you by needlessly speculating.

Let them run the appropriate diagnostic but be sure to be clear and concise with your description of your problem, but at this stage your saving grace is at least the dealer warranty should it be anything substantial.

As a final note, if all ends up pretty routine, try and pick the car up mid afternoon, not at the end of the day so if there is any problem you are not happy with when you drive away, then you can take it straight back.

Good luck, and let us know what the outcome was.

    thanks guys..

dub, ive got 40k on the clock.. so hasnt had the major service yet..

but ive heard its 60,000ks or 4 years.. so major service might come early i guess seeing it is a 2008 model..

see how i go fingers crossed its just a simple reset and software update.. or they do a free dsg service..

    will keep u posted..

    Toby,

3 years or 60,000 on standard, whichever comes first. However, you have dealer warranty so check with this.

40k on a 2008 model 32 is promising anyway, but might just simply indicate some stop/start driving to work with the previous owner

Not much you can do at this point. See what pans with the checkup

^ good outcome - you dont want to be forking out for the mechatronics out of your own pocket.
