Hi guys,

First post, and I'd love to be part of this group buy. So please put me down for a vw2.b1.b.

Clive, have you considered letting others know on forums like vwvortex or golfmk7? I personally spoke to Michael over at S2T and he mentioned that location doesn't matter, since orders will ship individually to everyone that is part of the group buy.

As for timing, I don't mind waiting for as long as needed. No Golf Rs in Canada until August or September.

Hey mate,

No I haven't considered that yet as I'm not a member of either forum and this was just a group buy for vwgolf.net.au members originally but if you are a member and you think you can round up a few more people, feel free to do so and share the details with us here.

As for the shipping, I haven't discussed this with Michael yet however if he's cool with separating them out in that way, then the more the merrier!!

I'll post a bit later with the model I want. Need some time to look them over. I assume the different models have different dimensions too. Which one provides the most surface area to put fingers on?

Thank you for your Interest in our Product and for your participation in the VWGolf.net Group-Buy.

The B2 Paddle Shifters have the most surface contact area, followed by the B1, and B3.

Our B1 Paddle Shifters extend higher on the top, than on the bottom. More of a classic F1 style Paddle Shifter.
Both the B2 and B3 Paddle Shifters extend equally from top to bottom (allowing more shifting space regardless of hand placement on the steering wheel) The B2 Paddle Shifter is taller than the B3 and is angled towards the driver for easier access and more clearance between the multi-function levers. Some prefer the swept angled B2 Paddle Shifter, some don't.

Please let me know if you have any additional questions, comments, or concerns.

Kind regards,

Michael Bello

Damn. Now I am second guessing my choice. I didn't realize the B2s angle toward the driver. I think I like that.

Clive, I may change my selection so stay tuned.

Michael, if you are following, if I were to select the black polished finish, would you just apply the standard $40 upcharge to the group buy discount? Or are you not offering a discount on the polished paddles at this time?

Thank you.

I obviously have not done it yet myself, but a few others on Vortex have. It should take about 5 minutes to do. Its a matter of unplugging the negative terminal on the battery, pulling a few pins out of the stock paddle switches to remove them and replacing stock paddles with the S2Ts with the same pins. The installation instructions are here:

Thank you for organizing this...just registered and even though I won't have my MkVII until October or November, I feel like I need to take advantage of this great price.

Can't believe how much easier these are to install on the MkVII compared to the MkVI. I know some MkVI owners who would not go for these because they had to pay someone to install them on top of the pretty high price for them.

Hello everyone,

If any of you know another site or forum that you could promote this group buy on, it would be to the benefit of everyone if we can reach 25 buyers. I registered at VWROC and will explore if there is any interest there. Thanks to TecklenburgVW for posting on the mk5/mk6 sites.

Clive, do you have an idea of when the group buy will expire or when you'll call it and go ahead with the number of buyers at that time?

At least until July when the MK7 paddles will be available. We'll see how how many people we have on board by then and if it looks like we're too far from the 25 goal, then we may as well pull the pin and place the order.

Hello jdenn,

Thank you for your Post!

We still have to wait until July to start the Group-Buy.
But, this Group-Buy will be moving forward and congratulations, the prices will be $169.95USD plus shipping for the standard Silver or Black and $209.95USD plus shipping for the Polished Clear or Black Anodized Finishes. I'm sure there will not be any issues finding another 4 participants. :)

We need the Australian members of VWGolf.net to decide if they wish their Orders to ship individually, or as a group to save shipping costs.
If the Australian members decide to have their Orders shipped individually, everyone can place their Orders through our Website. If those members wish to have their Orders shipped as a group, we will need to invoice those members individually through email via PayPal.
So please, let us know what you folks decide.

We would like to thank everyone for their interest and participation and we will prepare our Website for the future Group-Buy.
Further details to follow.

Hello Clive,

You are very Welcome and Thank you for your Post!

Let me start by saying we wish we had more inexpensive and reliable options for shipping our Product but, sadly, of our reliable options, shipping costs have continued to increase every year since we started in 2009.

We charge $45.00USD for Individual International Orders using USPS International Express Shipping. Delivery time is roughly between 3-5 business days.

We charge $12.95USD for all domestic Orders. Delivery time is the same 3-5 business days.

In order to calculate the shipping cost for a group Order, we'd need to know the Address and how many Sets we are shipping together.

Kind regards,

Thanks for letting us know Michael. Currently we have 10 orders for Aussies, what would be the cost to send them to Sydney ZIP code 2000?

To give everyone an idea of what the cost to have them sent locally within Australia is, to send anything using a small prepaid satchel via standard post is $8.25 or $10.55 via express. Both of these options have a tracking number.

See here for more info: http://auspost.com.au/parcels-mail/prepaid-satchels.htmlhttp://

I reckon for Aussies it'd be cheaper to have them all sent over together, then repackaged and distributed from there. Of course this is up to whomever takes charge (I presume Clive? :P), but personally I'm happy to pay for the paddles, my share of the international group package, and then domestic delivery :)

I think that's the way to go too. Between 10 of us, the international shipping won't be too bad and certainly a lot less than $45 USD each.

If it works out cheaper for everyone, I'd be happy to ship them out providing people can bank transfer me the shipping costs (either $8.25 or $10.55). I'll send my bank details to those who chose domestic shipping, they can choose whether they want standard or express postage and once the amount clears, I'll ship them and send them the tracking number :D And anyone in Sydney who'd prefer to pick them up can do so either in the CBD or in Ryde after hours.

I'd be happy to take care of the Canadian orders as well if you guys want them all sent to my place. I can distribute them from here. If we split $45 by the 6 of us on here that'll reduce the cost to $7.5 each.

Flat rate padded Xpresspost envelopes to ON eastward cost around $20, the same to Manitoba westward would be about $13. We'd still all be ahead on shipping. I can get an an accurate quote if you guys are interested and ok with me taking care of it. If not, thats cool too.

You guys can pay me via Paypal for the domestic shipping.

Awesome sketch Charlie!

I'll send my bank details to those who chose domestic shipping, they can choose whether they want standard or express postage and once the amount clears, I'll ship them and send them the tracking number :D And anyone in Sydney who'd prefer to pick them up can do so either in the CBD or in Ryde after hours.

Hello Clive,

Sadly, we had to give-up on the less expensive 'standard' International shipping after too many experiences with unreliable tracking, problems with delivery confirmation, and way way too many lost packages.
International Express has been our only reliable option.

Please let us know what you decide and feel free to contact us directly with the details.

Should be rather obvious now I'm not an artist but if this is close the B2 is the one for me.
Okay, you can stop laughing at my drawing now:)

Ladies and Gentlemen,

As you may have already known, there was a recent group buy for the S2T Paddle replacements that never went ahead. I've contacted S2T directly to see if we can revive the group buy for those who are still interested. Here is the the response from Michael @ S2T:

In order to provide you guys with the original special price of $169.95USD (plus shipping) we will need 25 participants. We can do $195.95USD (plus shipping) for 10. These aren't hard numbers, if you guys get close, we'll authorize the full discount.

We currently do not offer an illuminated Paddle Shifter.
However, we have added the CNC machined + and - windows from our Titanium Paddle Shifters to our Aluminum Paddle Shifters which allow surrounding ambient light to pass through the symbols thus illuminating them.

Fellow Canadians,
I'm still willing to have the orders shipped here and distribute them domestically if you guys are looking to save some money on shipping. If I dont hear from anyone before the group buy order link goes up, i'll just go ahead with my own.

Thank you Michael. That took care of the issues too.

Install took a little finesse with the plastic pin but I finally got it secured all the way thru. Loving the paddles.

Hey Ryan,

I am thinking about either the VW2.B2 or the B3 for my Golf R Mk7.
On your picture is the the VW2.B2?
I wanted to know your opinion on if the B2 paddles are too long and it gets in the way ... if they are I will go for the B3 rather than the B2?

Thanks
Tim

What did you end up using to remove the pins?

Mine will be here today, I can't wait!

The B2's do not get in the way of either stalks. They sit on the same plane as the stock paddles.

My needle nose pliers were to wide so I used a tiny flat head screwdriver to pull it out. A super fine needle nose plier used in jewelry should work.

Michael,

I can use the top and middle section of each paddle to execute a shift, however, the bottom section does not move with the same amount of pressure. Is this by design or should I be able to execute shifts by pulling on the bottom section?

Thanks!

Unfortunately that's just how they are going to behave because of where the pivot point is and because of the angle VW used when they designed the mount. The lower portion of the paddle is even with it so there won't be any leverage at that point to execute a shift.

Here's a pic that I drew some red lines on to show what I mean... >D

Hello Mother,

Thank you for your Post!

Correct. Due to the OEM design there is limited leverage on the lower portion of the Paddle Shifter. However, the lower portion of the Paddle Shifter should still function but, with a little more force.

Hi Michael,

With that in mind, does that also apply to the B3 since it sticks out further?

Ryan/Mother/Michael,
I just installed my VW.B2.B paddles and I am able to shift on the bottom section. There are ridges on the back side of the paddle (where your fingers go). If you place your fingertips between the edge of the paddle and the ridge it will shift (or at least mine does). I am using the very outside edge of the paddle.

Michal,
I am really enjoying the look of the paddles, the matte black finish looks O.E.M. They look like they belong on the car. However the best part is being able to shift while my hands are in the 10 and 2 o'clock positions.

Now to go find some twisties>D

Your feedback is exactly what I wanted to hear regarding my choice of paddles.
I am going for the VW2.B2.B which would allow me to shift on the bottom section as well as using the top section too.

Received and Installed. Thank's very much for organising this Clive.

Installation was very straightforward, took barely 2 minutes, not including the trip to the hardware store for some cheap needle-nose pliers. I did not disconnect the battery, I simply turned the wheel 90 degrees counter clockwise, sat on the drivers side door sill pulled one pin out, inserted new paddle, pushed pin back through, repeat. Then went for a blast around the block :-)

Hello El_gti91,

Thank you for your Post!

MK5/MK6, or MK7?

MK7 doesn't require the removal of the airbag to complete the install.

The clips are the most difficult part of the MK5/6 installed. Using a mirror to locate the clips really helps. Insert the flathead screwdriver next to the clip and twist while gently pulling on the airbag and it should pop-out. It can take some time to get it right. Be patient.

Hope this helps.
And a beer will always help! :)

I had the same problem with mine. After swearing at the steering wheel for 20 minutes, I think it got the message and decided to come off

Remember to put the screws that hold the steering wheel buttons back in, I forgot and had to take the airbag off again!! At least the second time around was much easier

Must say the paddles are amazing, I never used to use the OEM one's much but these just work so damn well. Nice to see a quality product that works & fits perfectly >D

You can use your front facing camera on your phone and a small torch to guide your way to the clips. MK6 is the most annoying to do.

Hello PEG57R,

Thank you for your Post.

We would recommend inspecting the installation of the right side Paddle Shifter assembly and make sure the Shifter and the switch are mated properly. There are some tolerance variances with the OEM parts but assembly shouldn't be loose.

Please let us know.

Mine have just a hair of play to them. Not much at all, but it is there. I was thinking of removing them and applying some thin, easily compressible foam weatherstrip to the part of the paddle that contacts the buttons to see if that would take the play out of them but still allow them to operate as intended. Just a suggestion as something you might want to try as an easy and cheap solution.

Do these maintain the same gap between the paddles and the indicator/wiper stalks? I tried some stick on paddle extensions but they ended up too close the the stalks and the back of my fingers touched the stalks every time I turned. Pulled them off 30 mins later.

More or less the same :) it will feel a bit weird at first, but once you've adapted to the larger paddles, there's no issues with the stalks at all.

Hello DamoGolf,

Thank you for your Post.

The 'Stick-on' Paddle Shifters are much closer to the multi-function levers because they don't replace the factory Paddles. Our Shifters replace the OEM Paddles which allows for more clearance with the multi-function levers. They don't offer as much clearance as the OEMs due to their larger size but, more clearance than the 'stick-on' competition.

Hi Michael:

I've had a similar issue with my S2T Paddles, the base on the down shift side has separated from the paddle and the up shift side base plate is starting to come loose. I've uploaded a video to my youtube account so you can see what I'm referring to.

I've emailed [email protected]; looking forward to a resolution.
