    soyd's Golf GTI Edition 30

    Hello!, soyd here!

Thought it might be fun to create a small project thread for the car which is a "Volkswagen Golf GTI Edition 30":

    Short info about the car:

Volkswagen's Celebrates 30 Years Of The Golf GTI model 1977-2007
    Manufactured in limited edition
30hp more than the original GTI
    Different skirt package all around
A golf ball as the shift knob
Same engine as in Audi's S3 265hk, the engine is throttled to 230 on the Edition 30.
    etc etc..

The car is a bit unusual, one of five whites in Sweden....

I planned to upgrade some small things on the car bit by bit... The man goal is to keep the OEM look..

Personalized license plate was one of the first thing I ordered. To get the clean and personalized look on the car...

Then the Oettinger Intercooler was fitted

And a Custom built 3 inch full exhaust from turbo including 100 cell sports cat. From "Simons Sportsystem"

Listen to the sound of the exhausts here!

And the I had the car remapped by: Ace-Competition That give an engine power 330hp 435nm give or take..

    And about 300hp wheel power.

I then ordered an RNS510 off ebay:

It was the first time I bought something big and relatively expensive on eBay ...

But the guy was great and packed very nicely and sent a few days after I transferred the money!

    And finally the beauty arrived

    OEM RNS510 Navigator touchscreen etc

    The installation:

Well then I had time to install rns510 unit.I had some youtube videos at hand that I locked to have the dashboard disabled. And also I had the "Haynes manual" at hand as well

Well the device itself was basically plug and play... What was exciting was where to hide gps puck!, I put it under the dashboard with double-stitched tape... Will see how it works in the summer. it's not so good GPS coverage in a concrete garage...

But most exciting of all was to change from the original language into English in the menu system

I would also like to thank Ola for the assistance, tnx dude

    Some pictures of the installation:

I just revived the package and unpacked the unit

Now it is in place!, here we are mounting the gps puck to an appropriate position ...

    Looks good right ?

    Testing to play some tunes...

Last known location seems to be germany! no GPS coverage in a concrete garage

I do not like to get stone chips so I thought = That Goes Both Ways ...

So I was going to fit mudflaps on the rear, have them already on the front..

    1K0075105 | mudflaps | GOLF GTI | 2005- | 100AUD | VOLKSWAGEN

But that did not go so well:

They did not fit at all

They did not fit at all

Even do I asked the VAG, but are you sure that they are suitable for the bumper on the Edition 30. They told me: "Oh yes it will fit!"

    Yeah right!

Then I had the original detroit wheels edges panted in red to match the GTI theme.

    Original with polished edges...

And this is what it turned out to look like:

    With red

    With red

So what do you think of it, good or bad?

I only run my car on the Shell V-Power (99 Octane)

So I called them up and say like: Hey guys I only run my car on your: "Shell V-Power" Could you possibly hook me up with some good looking t-shit/shirts?.

    And today the package arrived

The requirement from the shell regarding this team racing shirt was that i can not do bad PR for them like. Wearing the t-shirt and getting wasted etc

And two black shirts for casual wearing

    T-shirt

    Sweater

    Embroidered logo on the chest

Embroidered Shell seashell on the arm

    now heavily sponsored...

    Thanks to Shell

Stock speaker upgrade etc, part one!

Today I got a package in the mail!, what could that be ?

2x VW GOLF V, Speaker Adapters 165mm, front & back

2x adapters to replace stock speakers with 6.5" speakers"

So why don't I put in some high-end stuff then?, well because I do not want to change the interior. I want the original look. I just wanted a little bit more durable speakers!
I only upgraded the original speakers to better speakers of the same size.

Speaker, adapter plates for speakers, cables, etc.:

    Disassembled door panel:

Door panels of (Still with original speakers)

Original speaker gone, adapter plate in place. And new speaker cable in place

Replacement Speaker in place! (Infinity kappa)

    Door panel back in place!

They I just had to test play some tunes to hear the sound improvement

I then flashed the latest firmware on to the unit.

Then I installed the last map in the device.
